Charlie and the chocolate factory

I choose this book because I have only saw movie. I never read a book of it so I decided to read one.

This story is about one boy named Charlie. He is poor but one thing thats excites him is Wonka’s factory. He lives with his parent and grandparents. One day, special event were held. That is, if you find a golden ticket in chocolate bar, you are invited to Willy Wonka’s factory. He was excited but at the same time, he was disappointed because he doesn’t have much money to buy chocolate bar. However on his birthday he got a present from his parent that was a chocolate bar. He opened it with full of hope but there was no chance. Grandpa gave him a money too but no chance. He gave up for golden ticket but one day he finds money on the street. He uses this to buy a chocolate bar. The result was…….he won the ticket!!
From now on, you can enjoy mysterious, unbelievable, exciting events that happens in Wonka’s factory.

I liked the movie so I liked the book too! It wasn’t that hard to read so I think you can read this quickly. I really like fantasy book so I think if you like those genre, you will probably like this book too!!

Hatchet

The main character in this book is Brian, a thirteen year old boy. He is in his way to Canadian north wood to see his dad. His parent recently divorced and he finds out secret about his mom having affair with someone. He was on the plane with a pilot but suddenly, pilot started to teach Brian how to drive a plane. Then, Brian realizes that pilot was having a heart attack. There was no way that he could drive the plane even pilot teaches him.
Luckily he crushes into lake in Canadian wood. He had not much of a food and there were no ways to escape this situation. What should he do???

This book was really exciting it makes me want to read more and more. I couldn’t stop reading!! I think this boy is really strong and brave. I could never be like him. I recommend this book to everybody!

Star girl

I choose this book because one of my friend recommended this book.

This was a story about a girl named Susan(star girl). She came to Arizona’s public school. She has a free spirit and lot of enthusiasm. Students of the school liked her when she cheers the team so cheering club asked her to join the cheerleading club. So she joined. However, students didn’t like her when she feel too much sympathy on other team or when she starts to cheer other team. Her boyfriend Leo tries to stop her and tells her to be same like everybody else. But……

I think this story tells you how its important to be “yourself”. I enjoyedp this story very much!!!

The curious incident of the dog in the night-time

This book is a mystery novel written by Mark Haddon. This book’s main character is Christopher, fifteen years old boy, who have a autism. He is living with his dad. His dad says that his mom died. One day, his neighbor’s dog was killed by a garden fork. When Christopher walks by, police touches him and asked about this incident. Since he have an autism, he didn’t like to be touched. So hit the police and ran. This made police wonder that he might be the one who killed the dog. He gets arrested. But luckily, he was released. From this, he will try to find out who really killed the dog and secrets about Christopher’s mom.

This book was really exciting!! I recommend you very much!

Meet me in Istanbul

My first book review for this semester, I chose Meet me in Istanbul! In the last semester, some classmates were reading this book so I chose this book.

The main character of this book is Tom. He visit Istanbul to meet his fiancé, Angela. She is working in Istanbul to help company exporting goods to England. On the way to Istanbul,he meets Kemal who was sitting next to him in the plain. They easily became friends. When he arrived at Istanbul, he hurried to the place where he promised with Angela to meet up. On the way, he saw Angela across the street but she couldn’t hear. The promise was at evening so he gave up and waited for her. However, she never come. From this, Tom and Kemal try to help each other to find clues to search Angela.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I hope Tom and Angela will marry soon. I think that from this event, their relationship became stronger. I also hope that Tom and Kemal’s friendship will continue.

The catcher in the rye

This book is set around 1940 and 1950. It shows teengers stuggle around school, relation between friends and girls. This book’s main character is Holden and he narrates the whole story. He is plain teenage boy but always stressed out with something. At the beginning of the story, he is stressed out with roommate who he live with Stradlator. He is dating with a girl who was once Holden’s girl friend. He doesn’t work well in his school so he escaped and got in to the train. He take a jouney and through his way, there is things that happens to him.
This story is mostly how Holden deal with struggles that he faces. Relationship, death, school, family and all things that we might have struggle now.
I thought this book was good. It is easy to understand since we are about same age with the main character. However, I have never felt the way he did so I didn’t really understood his feelings but still, I think this was a good story!

Harrison Bergeron

We did discussion on this story. For my thoughts, I thought this book is very interesting! I think the first one paragrapf is really good to catch peoples attention. It made me want to read more when I read the first paragraph.
It was a world that made everyone equal. I think that equality is good thing but not too much. Like in the book, it said that nobody was smarter, nobody was more beautiful and nobody runs faster. I think these are abilities that makes everyone not the same. These makes different personality and each of the is really good.
I really enjoyed reading this book!!

Super frog saves Tokyo

I thought this book is really interesting and mysterious. I have read Haruki Murakami, but I think his book is really original and it depends whether you like it or not. It might be hard to read if you don’t like his original world.
This book was about giant frog and Katagiri, ordinary man. They try to fight with giant worm to stop the earthquake. They work together and plan to defeat the worm.
The ending was kind of grotesque so you might not like this book if you don’t like those stuff. The ending is really shocking so you have to be prepare!!

The Great Gatsby

I chose Gatsby for the next book. This book was recently made into movie so I decided to read this book.

This book takes place in New York. Main character is Nick and Gatsby. This story is about what happens in those surroundings. Nick used to live in Minnesota but moves to NY, and meet Gatsby who lives next door. He held big party on the weekend but nobody is invited except Nick. He held this big party who anyone could come because… Well there is a reason for this . I think this story’s theme is “can you repeat the past” This book makes me think of lot of things.

I really liked this book and I already saw a movie and I liked both of them. But, O do think that it really depends on each people whether you will like it or not. I could just say that this is not a happy ending. I don’t recommend this book if you like a happy story

Romeo and Juliet-William Shakespeare

I have been reading several books this month.
But I’m going to tell write about Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare

Story
The story is set in Verona. In that city, there were two family called Montague and Capulet. There was one young guy named Romeo belong to the Motague family and one girl Juliet belong to the Capulet. One day Romeo and his friends sneak in to the Capulets party and Romeo meets Juliet. They both fell in love when they first saw each other. But, beacuse there family are againt each other they couldn’t meet each other easily.
As the story goes on, Romeo encounters lots of problems family problems, friends problem and so on. Will Romeo and Juliet live happily ever after??

I think this was a really good story. This is a really famous story so I think most of people knows the ending without reading it. Also the famous phrases in the story. I really liked the book but I liked the movie too! I strongly recommend reading this book!!
